Red Rock Country in Sedona, AZ, part of the Coconino National Forest. My friend Jessica, who lives in Phoenix and who I visited this past week, and I took a day trip to Sedona for some hiking and beautiful scenery. Half of our afternoon was spent hiking and scrambling up to the immediate base of Cathedral Rock. Yep, wayyyyyyyyy up there.

That’s a good climb! Nice to have the people in the shot for scale. Is there a path up there or did you make your own? I like the composition too.
I went to Sandia Ridge in New Mexico and climbed it years ago, now I want to climb! Gotta get out west I guess.

Awesome — Sedona is gorgeous! Can’t wait to see more of your snaps from this part of the world.
There was a path all the way up, but scrambling on bare rock was involved, and that got slightly tricky. I was amazed at the older women (looking like my mom in their capris and sun hats) who had somehow made their way up and then crab-walking their way slowly back down.
