Energy | November 23, 2009

This energy plant is located in downtown Minneapolis, but I’m not sure exactly what it does. Anyone know?

I was downtown yesterday with a couple friends having lunch at the Skyway, we saw this thing belch out a big cloud of black smoke and then go back to doing nothing. Weird ugly thing, If you find out what it does, let me know!

It’s the “Hennepin Energy Recovery Center.” It burns trash to push a steam turbine and generate electricity. It’s an interesting looking building, though.
