In Sweden, Santa Claus is known as Tomte and has more of a gnome look about him. Fredrik’s uncle sported the more American Santa look, complete with cotton facial hair (apparently the stores were all out of the normal beards). What I love about the Swedish Tomte is the carrying of a candle to help shed light in the dark winter. How cozy!
